The City Marshal Office is a law enforcement agency that operates independent of the Police Department. The staff of the City Marshal Office are duly licensed peace officers under State law and have full police powers, but are tasked with non-traditional law enforcement functions within the City of Longview that specifically relate to the Municipal Court. The City Marshal Office provides courtroom security services for the Municipal Court, serve as Bailiffs to the Municipal Judge, execute Class C Misdemeanor warrants, transport prisoners and serve orders of the Municipal Court such as summons and subpoenas.
The City Marshal Office is staffed by the City Marshal and two Deputy City Marshals. The City Marshal falls under the administrative supervision of the Municipal Court Administrator.
